Mountain biking in Salzburger Land
In Grossarltal, it’s time to get on the saddle and into the great outdoors. Varied mountain bike tours await between alpine pastures, forests and waterfalls – perfect for athletes, connoisseurs and adventurers.
Mooslehenalm – Viehhausalm – Igltalalm
(moderately difficult | approx. 4.5 hours)
From the village center of Grossarl, the trail leads along the valley hiking and cycle path towards St. Johann. After the Schiederhof farm, turn off in the direction of Himmelsknoten. The forest path takes you to the Mooslehenalm, on to the Viehhausalm (ideal for children!) and to the Igltalalm – one of the most wildlife-rich areas in the region. You return to the valley via the Mooslehenalm.
Reitalm
(difficult | approx. 2.5 hours riding time)
Start is in the village center of Hüttschlag. From here, the trail leads uphill to the Hebsanger parking lot and on through forest and alpine meadows to the Reitalm. Homemade delicacies and a fantastic view await you there before you ride back down the same route.
Bichlalm
(moderately difficult | approx. 3.25 hours riding time)
This tour starts at the Lammwirt in Ellmautal. Take the goods road up through the spruce forest – at the top, a panorama opens up that stays with you. You continue to the Bichlalm and back to Grossarl on the same route with almost no incline.
Valley hiking & cycle path
(easy | approx. 2 hours riding time)
From the village center of Grossarl, you can either cycle leisurely out of the valley along the Ache towards St. Johann (approx. 5 km there and back again) or southwards across lush meadows, past old farms and small chapels to the picturesque valley head of Hüttschlag and to Ötzlsee – you return the same way.
Harbachalm
(medium | approx. 3.75 hours riding time)
From the center of Grossarl, the cycle path leads to Hüttschlag and along forest paths through the forest to the historic Harbachalm – an old miners’ hut from the 17th century. After a refreshment stop with regional delicacies, you cycle comfortably back down into the valley.
